Welcome to CEDPS
Overview
The SciDAC-funded Center for Enabling Distributed Petascale Science (CEDPS) produces technical innovations designed to allow for rapid and dependable data placement within a distributed high-performance environment; convenient construction of scalable science services that provide for the reliable and high-performance processing of computation and data analysis requests from many remote clients; and troubleshooting performance and performability of these and other related activities.
For an overview of the project, see CEDPS in a Nutshell, which include pointers to general slides, original proposal, and project reports.
We are currently embarking on an exciting new direction to encapsulate much of the complexity of federated services (with an initial target of data movement) as a hosted service, as part of the globus.org effort. This document on Google docs describes the rationale and use-cases for moving data with globus.org.
Project Areas
- Data - Do you need to move large amounts of data fast and reliably?
- Troubleshooting - Do you need to troubleshoot wide-area data transfers?
- Scalable Services - Do you need to make data and software accessible as services?
